I am a mortgage underwriter and was curious to find out detailed information about Loan Modification. This book was easy to understand and had a lot of real-life examples and stories. Very well written in plain language with a huge glossary in the back explaining all the technical terms. I learned a lot and feel confident that I can now definitely guide a troubled homeowner in the right direction. I definitely recommend hiring a professional to process your modification...they know all the right things to say and correct people to call. This book is an excellent guide for the homeowner seeking to initiate an intelligent discussion with a trained professional. An educated consumer never gets scammed !!

I love these books for "dummies", they all seem to clarify things really well and Joe Kraynak, Lois Maljak and Ralph R. Roberts have excelled at it in Loan Modification For Dummies.
They take you through all of the steps from A - Z and appear to have left nothing out if you are attempting a loan mod on your own. Hopefully, they get the point across to you that it is an involved process and if you are not up to following the necessary steps, then you should consider a loan mod company to do the work for you. Often times these same loan mod companies will be able to offer you debt settlement as well. We have found that those who come to us for loan mods or principal balance reduction, also need debt settlement as well.
This is an excellent "how to" book and I would highly recommend it, even if you are employing a loan mod company. It will let you know what steps they are taking on your behalf.
